The Power of Women
Working Together

We are an active group of engaged women dedicated to building a better world for women and girls. Our club is affiliated with the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW), a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 1919.

How We Work Together

Our members work locally to pursue CFUW’s goals:

Speaker Program

Presentations by guest speakers are a highlight of our meetings and cover a variety of interests. Our program includes topics that are thought-provoking and entertaining.

Interest Groups

In addition to attending our club’s general meetings, members may join a variety of small groups which meet regularly. Members enjoy socializing while pursuing common leisure or educational interests. Ideas for new groups are always welcome.

Advocacy

Our club’s advocacy efforts involve education and action led by members of our Advocacy Committee. We focus on issues that align with the policies of CFUW National and CFUW Ontario Council.

Scholarships

The CFUW North Toronto Scholarship fund was established in 1980. We provide financial support to young women graduating from five local high schools, and to students attending four Toronto universities.

New Members Are Always Welcome

Join us at CFUW North Toronto to enjoy stimulating programs, share ideas, and make new friends.
All women who support CFUW’s goals are welcome.

Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that the land on which we meet is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat people, and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We recognize the importance of working to achieve reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in our community and across Canada.

What does Reconciliation mean for CFUW?

For CFUW, reconciliation means learning about the historical discrimination and dispossession faced by Indigenous Peoples. Our organization is committed to building relationships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. CFUW is listening to the recommendations of Indigenous community members and activists as to how we can show support and solidarity in fostering relationships and respect between non-Indigenous and Indigenous peoples.
