Donate to United Way's Local Love Fund

United Way Greater Toronto and the labour movement have been partners for decades, working together to strengthen communities across the GTA. The partnership developed around a common interest: ensuring that workers and working families have the support they need to succeed.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, we need each other now more than ever before. Many of our sisters and brothers are out of work, laid off or unable to work right now, and many are working on the front lines risking their lives for the greater community.

Despite all the efforts to provide government funding, there are too many people falling into hardship – so UWGT launched the Local Love Fund to help provide emergency support to people in need. A donation to the Fund will provide help to seniors, Mental Health Support, fund basic needs and increase community services capacity. We are asking every union in greater Toronto to step up and make a special donation to this urgent request.

A donation by May 30 will be matched dollar for dollar for double the impact.

Labour has been supporting the vision and the mission of UWGT since 1956 through our workplace campaigns and our volunteerism. United Way is our charity of choice. Therefore, we are encouraging people to give to the Local Love in a Global Crisis - COVID-19 Fund.

If you or a fellow union member need assistance finding food, paying housing bills, accessing free childcare or other essential services, call 211 where available or visit 211.ca to find local resources in your community.
