Congratulations to the Winners of the 2023 Bromley Armstrong Awards

Labour Community Services and the Labour Council were thrilled to celebrate the amazing work being done in labour equity and human rights at the 18th Annual Bromley Lloyd Armstrong Awards Gala this month. During an energetic evening, we gathered together to celebrate the legacy of Bromley and honor those who have followed in his footsteps.

Bromley Lloyd Armstrong was a Black trade unionist, organizer, and activist who led Ontario's early anti-discrimination campaigns. His efforts helped pave the way for Canada's first Human Rights laws. Carol Wall was honoured at the event as someone who practiced what she preached, building a legacy of social justice & equity. Carol is a Bromley Award Alumni. We remember her and continue the good fight in her memory.

The evening also had a panel discussion, “Beyond Performance: Honouring the Legacy of Bromley” moderated by Winnie Ng. She was joined by a panel of speakers, including John Cartwright, Felicia Samuel, and Yolanda B’Dacy.

The highlight of the evening was the five award winners, each of whom received recognition for their continued work. See the profile of each winner below!
