Introducing Shannon Devine: Our New Executive Director
We are pleased to announce that Shannon Devine will be joining the Toronto & York Region Labour Council as our new Executive Director. Shannon is a long-time communications professional, a fierce advocate for labour rights and equity, and a familiar face in both the labour movement and political spheres.
Shannon’s journey in the labour movement is widespread and impactful. She brings years of experience, having worked with Unifor’s national communications department, served as the Executive Assistant to Ontario Federation of Labour’s former President Chris Buckley, and most recently, led the Communications and Political Action Department at the United Steelworkers union. She also ran as the NDP candidate for Beaches-East York in last year’s federal election—a role that further underscores her deep commitment to the values we hold dear at the Labour Council.
Her wealth of experience, from strategic communications to political action, is complemented by her financial and managerial skills, making her a strong fit for our organization’s current and future needs.
Shannon will officially begin her role with us on Monday, April 20th, and we are excited to welcome her to our team. We look forward to the energy, vision, and leadership Shannon will bring to our Labour Council as we continue to fight for the rights of workers across Toronto and York Region.
