The Young Worker’s Committee of the Toronto & York Region Labour Council is an open membership committee for all workers under 35. We welcome those from all backgrounds, levels of experience, and trades.

In the long term, our goal is to become part of a diverse movement to advance the needs of all working people on these issues: young and old, union and non-union, and inclusive of people from all backgrounds, races, nations, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and trades. Our role will be to ensure that the needs of young workers are not simply an afterthought, but a central part of such a movement, both to strengthen it and to develop the next generation of leaders.

To build toward achieving that goal, our committee’s first goal should be the education and growth of its members and young workers at large. Importantly, we believe that for that education to be impactful, it must be rooted in working class tradition and history, and always be moving toward action.

We believe that our approach, one rooted in solidarity, education, and action, can be a part of what leads to the development of a larger unified working class movement – a goal we pursue with energy and optimism. We invite any young worker who agrees with our approach and principles to join us in the struggle for a better world for all working people!
