The Toronto & York Region Labour Council, a trade union federation representing over 200,000 workers from diverse sectors across the Toronto region, is proud to endorse Neethan Shan in the coming September 29th Scarborough-Rouge Park by-election!
A long time friend and champion of labour, Neethan is well known to the Labour Council and our members. Like all true progressives, at his core, Neethan is an organizer and a fighter. Starting in community and newcomer organizing, Neethan has taken his work directly from on-the-ground activism to elected office, serving on the school board and at Toronto City Council.
Even in those earliest struggles, the Labour Council was fighting alongside Neethan for justice for Toronto and York Region residents, and we are happy to stand next to him as he takes that fight to Toronto City Council. A proven and tested progressive, Neethan will serve not only as an advocate for Scarborough, but for all working people in the Toronto.
While the employer-lobby thumbs the scales for their preferred candidate, we’ll continue to organize to ensure the councillor elected in Scarborough-Rouge Park is a champion for us, not for them!
